Ever wonder what you would look like as a Viking, Gangster or Superhero? With our photo booth, you can become any character you can imagine. Capture your imagination, pose and be silly creating a keepsake that will last a life time for you and your guests!

We provide a photo booth experience that is perfect for any event, including weddings, birthday parties, corporate events, family reunions and graduations. Our photo booth helps entertain your guests with a memorable experience that is hard to duplicate. A photo booth adds an extra element to the entertainment for the evening and makes a great pair to your DJ & Dance!

We offer two types of photo booths that is sure to get your guests out of their seats, laugh and create moments that are captured for a lifetime. Our first booth is a traditional enclosed photo booth. Guests select their props, enter the booth and take four photographs for their print. We also custom design your print with any special message or event details. We also have a wide selection of custom backdrops that can match your event theme and add an extra special touch to your print. We bring over a 150 hand selected higher end props to every event and display them beautifully.

The #hashtag printer station is our newest addition to our photo booth portfolio and we are proud to be the first to bring #hashtag printing to Edmonton! Almost every event we attended had an event #hashtag for guests to upload their photos, but there was no way to print and view those great snaps instantly. Now you can!
Here is how it works:
  • Pick a #hashtag for your event. The #hashtag printer station monitors Instagram or Twitter for photos matching that #hashtag and automatically prints them and projects on a live slideshow. We can still supply props to add to the fun.
  • Add Tweets for Twitter Walls and automatically upload photos to Facebook helping you gain more “Likes” to your page.
  • No more waiting in line! Anyone with a smartphone can upload photos to the #hashtag printer station and instantly print them.
  • At the end of the event, the #hashtag printer station gives you a centralized collection of everyone’s photos.

The #hashtag printer gives your guests a "Polaroid" 4x6 image with your event information and #hashtag. Again, we are able to customize your print and backdrop with the #hashtag photo booth. The sky is really your only the limit to having a fun time with our photo booths!

Pin Up Dresses

It was important to us to offer our clients access to the style and essence of Pin-Up without having to go out a purchase a new wardrobe for the photo shoot.  We set out on a mission to purchase a wide variety of vintage-inspired dresses for our clients to choose from.  We purchase our dresses from a variety of online and local vendors.  They range in size, color and style!  We created a Pinterest page with pictures of most of our vintage inspired dresses.  We encourage our clients to view the page and select a few styles or favorites for us to bring along to the shoot.

What makes a dress Pin-Up?
Here are a few simple tips to help you in your selection:
1.  Glamour & grace: dresses of the 1950's accentuated the hour glass curves of a woman without showing too much.
2.  Length: dresses were often knee length or at the knee.
3.  Create a waistline: the dresses were often cut to accentuate the waist or a belt was worn to define the waist line.
4.  Swing dresses for day wear.  Add a bold and bright colors or prints such as floral, checkered or polka-dot patterns.  Women also added an extra puff by adding a petticoat underneath.
5.  Pencil dresses for evening wear.  Keep to darker colors to add a touch of elegance in the evening.
6.  Match your personality.  I always tell our clients to wear the style, color or fit that makes them feel comfortable and beautiful, flatters their favorite features and enhances their confidence.
7.  Add accessories.  Whether it is a bow in your hair, gloves or a vintage hat, it is also fun to pair vintage accessories with a pin-up dress.  This further shows off your personality.

One of my favorite pieces in our closet is from Rowena (it also just happens to be my favorite color). Jess rocked the dress in one of our January photo shoots.  We also use this image on our cover page of our website!

Vintage Photography is coming to Invermere!!!!

Vintage Photography shoots in Invermere BC

We are always honored when someone reaches out to us on Instagram (@vintagephotographyab), Facebook or from our website to provide feedback on our work or inquire about working with us.

When Theresa, an old colleague of Chad's contacted him about a possibility of coming out to Invermere for a weekend Film Noir shoot, we couldn't resist the opportunity! We are happy to report, we are taking our show on the road June 18 & 19, 2016!

If you are interested in joining us in Invermere for our "weekend only" Old Hollywood and Film Noir photography event, please reach out to us at info@vintage-photography.ca or contact Theresa at theresa@micasacoworking.ca. We will provide you with all of the details for the weekend!  We hope to see you there!

Theresa now works for MiCasa Coworking which is a coworking start up business in Invermere. MiCasa Coworking is breaking down silos and creating a community that foster peer-to-peer learning and collaboration. Their members are contractors, freelancers, artists and entrepreneurs who value working together in a creative community-minded space. They are conveniently located downtown Invermere in the Red Heritage House (604 14th Street). The coworking space has a boardroom that will transform into a studio for the two days!

Where should we go next?

We aspire to travel to one new location each month this summer! We are asking our followers, friends and Vintage lovers to tell us which city they would like us to visit next!  Will it be Calgary, Saskatoon, Red Deer or Vancouver?  You tell us, the sky is the limit.  If you would like to work with us in arranging a Film Noir weekend shoot of at least 8 individuals, we will give your shoot for FREE!  Contact us today at info@vintage-photography.ca!

Preparation Steps for our Film Noir Photo Shoots ~ A Star is Born!

At Vintage Photography we take you on a journey from the everyday to a Vintage Hollywood Star!

If you've ever reached us inquiring about a photo shoot, you will hear us say "we will take great care of you".  Maybe you just rolled your eyes and thought to yourself everyone says that, but let us take you through our most recent shoot with most beautiful Vicky F. to show how much we time, attention and care we give each and every client.  We give you the Hollywood Star treatment!

Vicky's mom reached out to us wanting to purchase a sweet sixteen Film Noir Photo Shoot.  Vicky's mom went on to explain that Vicky idolizes Audrey Hepburn. We were delighted and immediately began prepping for Vicky's photo shoot.

One of the first things we always send our clients is "How to Prepare for our Photo Shoot".  We provide our guests with what to expect on the day of the shoot, what to bring, the details of the shoot, time and location along with preparation tips for the day of the shoot.  We want to ensure we remove any of the guess work or stress from our clients mind.  We ask them to come prepared with the following tips:
  1. Come clean shaven.
  2. Paint your nails.
  3. Get a good night's rest.
  4. Avoid any foods that may make you feel bloated on the day of the shoot.
  5. Wear loose clothing on the day of the shoot to avoid markings on your skin.
  6. Come with your hair clean and dry.
  7. Come with a clean face, if you have skin sensitivities please bring your own foundation.
Second, we share our Pinterest board full of dresses that we currently own for clients to choose from for their shoot.  You can check out our vintage inspired closet at:

We also encourage our clients to develop a story board of images they like from Pinterest and share them with us.  This usually includes set ideas, hair and makeup ideas and poses that capture the essence of the shoot.  For Vicky, I also created a story board on Pinterest called 'Audrey Inspired' and shared it with Vicky and her mom. You can view her story board here: https://www.pinterest.com/vintagephotoyeg/audrey-inspired/

Another special touch that we added to her sweet sixteen shoot was finding the right accessories for her.  It had to scream Audrey!  We had taken a small vacation to Palm Springs just before Vicky's shoot and our number one goal was to bring back an 'Audrey-inspired hat'...I  found some great sunglasses too!  We always try to go out of our way to do something special or unique for our clients. We want to create a positive and memorable experience for each of our clients.

Vicky shared with us the outfit she liked and the hair and makeup she wanted for her shoot.  On the day of the shoot, Sondra from Blonde Ambition Beauty nailed the look!  Check out Vicky's prep pictures and Vicky on the day of the shoot!  She definitely transformed into a movie star!

During the shoot, we will often refer back to the story boards we shared on Pinterest.  This does a few things.  First, it assists us in coaching our clients with the idea of the pose.  A picture really does say a thousand words and often times it is easier for our clients to mimic a pose in a picture rather being instructed verbally by us. We also feel it puts the client at ease because they have a visual of what we are trying to shoot.  It eliminates any awkwardness and stress.  Finally, it assists Chad with his three light set up by Rogue Lighting.

Once the shoot finishes, we go through each image and select our favorites to share with the client.  We typically capture over 150 images in an hour long photo shoot.  We will narrow the images down to about 40 and send them for the client to review.  Here is a screen shot of what we shared with Vicky and her mom to choose for our creative vintage editing:

Photo Shoot Selection

Depending on the package, our clients choose anywhere from 4 to 8 vintage edited images that they will receive in black and white and color.  Each image typically takes Chad 30-45 minutes to edit.  He takes great care in creating the vintage look our images are known for.  To see our current packages, visit our Vintage Menu on our website at http://www.vintage-photography.ca/vintage-bombshell.html

It really must have been a hard choice for Vicky as every photo was amazing.  Here are the final results of some of her selections (check out that Palm Springs Audrey Inspired Hat!).

Vicky was an amazing women to work with and we really enjoyed our journey transforming her into a Vintage Hollywood model.  We hope to continue to work with Vicky on future projects.  She is a true gem!

Wedding Day Photography List

On your special day, the last thing you want to do is forget to capture that special moment with your loved ones.  We provide our couples with a comprehensive list of group photographs to ensure we are prepared on the day of the wedding and to ensure the bride and groom does not miss anyone!

On your special day, the last thing you want to do is forget to capture that special moment with your loved ones. We provide our couples with a comprehensive list of group photographs to ensure we are prepared on the day of the wedding and to ensure the bride and groom does not miss anyone!

Often times, there is limited time between the ceremony and dinner so efficiency in capturing the group photographs is key!  Here are a few tips and tricks we've learned along the way to stay on time:
1.  We ask the bride and groom for the list in advance.
2.  For an additional personal touch, we ask for everyone's first name so we can call their name when it is their turn for a photograph with the bride and groom.
3.  We ask the bride and groom to point out a person who could assist us in gathering the individuals from both sides of the family.
4.  We tell the bride and groom that they should budget at least 2-5 minutes per group.  This helps them plan out the number of group photographs they want prior to us whisking them away for their photographs.
5.  We ask the bride and groom to announce after the ceremony concludes for the guests to go to a specific location to take photographs with them.
6.  We select a location very close to the ceremony location.  This helps in a number ways.  For guests with mobility concerns or those with young children, they do not have too travel far.  It also allows them to stay seated at the ceremony location until it is their turn.  It also drastically cuts down on the amount of time to gather the groups for the photograph.
7.  Finally, we take a build in approach.  We place the bride and groom in the middle and tell them to just hang out while we build in the group shots from smaller to larger.  We typically wills start with the grandparents so that they do not have to wait too long and then we work our way down the list from their from immediate family groupings, to extended family groupings to special friend groupings, and so on.

To assist the bride and groom with planning the number of group photographs they would like after the ceremony, we provide them with the following list of the standard groupings and also ask for any other groupings not indicated on the list:

• Bride with her parents
• Bride and Groom with Bride’s parents
• Bride and Groom with Bride’s family
• Bride and Groom with Bride’s grandparents
• Bride and Groom with Bride’s extended family
• Bride and Groom with both sets of parents
• Groom with his parents
• Bride and Groom with Groom’s parents
• Bride and Groom with Groom’s family
• Bride and Groom with Groom’s grandparents
• Bride and Groom with Groom’s extended family
• Bride and Groom with flower girl and ring bearer

At Vintage Photography, we take the time to work with our bride and groom to ensure every detail is covered.  Our approach to photography is meant to ensure they do not have to worry about missing the special moments throughout the day.  We would love to be a part of your special day!  We offer full day or half day coverage for weddings plus a FREE engagement photography session.  We also have a photo booth that adds a fun touch to your dance & party!  For more information on our Wedding Photography packages, please contact us at www.vintage-photography.ca or visit our portrait website at www.vintagephotographyedmonton.com
